I’ve gotta tell you. For my first fashion week I made sure to have everything planned. What I was going to wear to each event, show, and meeting was carefully planned and scheduled before my departure. What I didn’t do, was look at the weather forecast. I assumed, foolishly, that since I was going a few thousand miles up north that it would be a little cooler than muggy south Florida. I purchased all of these jacket combinations thinking that I would be able to introduce fall fashion while on my trip for NYFW. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
As you see in the photos, they all start with a jacket on. Once I felt like I was going to pass out, the jacket had to go. I really have no excuse being that I lived in Manhattan with Andrew for two years. I guess I still associated NYC with unbearable cold temperatures. Two horrible and long winters will do that to you. So a lot of the outfits that I so carefully planned were useless in the hot NYC weather. I guess the moral of my story is to never assume anything. Double check everything. Luckily, what I had under the jacket was still a great piece on its own. Thank goodness.
We shot this look at the Oculus building at the World Trade Center the day before 9/11 between appointments. I can’t tell you how amazing it was to be there and celebrate and remember our fallen heroes. I say this every day but I feel so honored to be an American. Thank you for stopping by!
