Luxury Custom Wedding Invitations
We had so much fun designing our wedding invitations and I am so excited to finally reveal them. Being that my future mother-in-law is an expert when it comes to creating a gorgeous invite, we really wanted to create something special for our guests.
Coming up with the idea of these wedding invitation boxes took a lot of creative thinking. We had explored the option of using something directly from a wedding invitation store but were really not getting the “WOW” factor we were looking for. Being that an invitation sets the stage for the event, we really wanted something spectacular.
We were originally interested in using an invitation portfolio and upon seeing a few of them online, my mother-in-law had an amazing idea of having them custom made but with a box and in the fabric of our choice.
I was tasked to find the fabric online while she hunted the globe for someone who could actually replicate our vision. The fabric I fell in love with, which I later on discovered from a phone call from my mother, is the same fabric on the chairs from their Maryland home living room that I have been coveting for years. Yikes, I guess I really love those chairs!
Once the fabric was selected, we had to ship yards of it abroad where we fortunately found someone who would take on the huge project. After many frustrating phone calls with FedEx and DHL, the fabric finally made it to its destination and the beginning of something beautiful began.
One thing my future mother-in-law and I learned about projects of this magnitude was that they tend to get bigger and bigger until they kind of spin out of control. After asking the designer to increase the size of the boxes to 8×8″, deciding on the size and color of the brooch, and requesting a few extra add on’s, our invitation boxes were complete. Only took us about 90 or so emails between them and my mother-in-law. Oh dear!
At long last, everything was approved by us and five huge boxes were sent from abroad to our loving home in Boca Raton, Florida. Continuing in our wedding invite saga, they got held up in customs once they arrived to the United States and took us days to get them released. I guess it goes to compliment our creativity for customs said that they had never seen something like this before.
While we were waiting for the inserts, we ordered over a hundred FedEx boxes and waybills for each invitation and manually assigned each recipient a box. After getting the inserts about two weeks later, we took on the task of assembling each one. I love projects like this and took such pride and joy in assembling each box with care. It took Mrs. Deiso and I about six hours to complete them all but I enjoyed every second.
One of the special little touches were the little pockets inside of the invitation cover to put information about the morning after Sunday brunch, as well as the accommodation and RSVP cards and envelope.
Once we completed the assembly, we put each invitation box into an exterior box with our logo imprinted on it. My mother-in-law always says that it’s all in the details. Being that we wanted to make sure each one was perfect, she couldn’t be more right when she came up with this extra little touch.
After inserting each invitation box into the monogramed one, we put each one into a white organza bag and tied it with each guests name tag to give it that personal touch.
Since sending our invitations this size in an envelope were not an option, we wanted to make sure that the way it was addressed on the FedEx box was not the only way it could be identified once opening. Being that a FedEx box doesn’t exactly give off the perception of wedding charm, we just wanted to add that small little personal detail.
Then off to the FedEx distribution center they went. Although happy to be sending them to their new homes, I have to say I was already missing the entire process of creating these custom made pieces with my mother-in-law. The two of us are thick as thieves when it comes to things like this and we love bouncing ideas of each other. Even though the entire process ended up being more complicated than we originally envisioned, we had such a blast creating them.
After they were delivered to each invited guest, we had such an overwhelming response and can’t even explain to how much that warmed our hearts. Only two months away and counting and we can’t wait to see everyone on our special day.
Hope you all enjoyed this post and thank you for stopping by!
