Hello loves! I am bringing some mixed patterns onto the blog today and I know sometimes mixing patterns and textures can be a little bit scary but if done right, it is a fantastic look. I always look for inspiration when shopping at Olivia Palermo who is the queen at mixing patterns. She definitely has a talent for it and I love to look at her on Pinterest and see different ways to elevate a look.
Tweed, although not a pattern, has a grain to it that can looks like it does. I mixed it with some lace and animal print and you see what we ended up with. To be safe with mixing patterns, it is always good to try to stay within the same color palette and then add or include other colors with accessories if you wish. If this tweed had been an army green for instance, it might not have had the same effect or would have had too much going on. When mixing patterns, leave the boldness to the patterns themselves and choose a color palette that doesn’t add too much overall.
